Lambeth is welcoming the arrival of the big chill this year after recruiting over 240 volunteer Snow Wardens. Our wardens are all geared up and ready to clear pavements of snow and ice and help keep the borough moving throughout the winter. The scheme, launched in September 2011, is one of our early adopters of the Cooperative Council and has had a great response from individuals as well as groups within the community.
Volunteers have been provided with all the equipment they need and have attended an induction session giving everyone an opportunity to meet and mix with other Snow Wardens.
The Environmental Development team has been hard at work filling bins with over five tonnes of grit! They’ve been out and about delivering the bins, together with hundreds of shovels, gloves and hi-vis vests to the far reaches of borough.
If you’re keen to get involved there’s still time, you can find out more information about how to volunteer on our Snow Wardens webpage or call Richard on 020 7926 3088.
