Did you know that you can recycle batteries in all Lambeth libraries? Each library now has a container for household batteries on the counter, if it isn’t visible please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help you.

Batteries can also be recycled at many high street stores, the Recycle Now website features a handy map, to help you find your nearest recycling point.

Why recycle batteries?

Batteries contain valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt and silver. Recycling them reduces the need to mine new materials, cutting CO2 emissions and saving resources.

What else can I do?

Rechargeable batteries are a good alternative to single use. They can be recharged hundreds of times and although they are more expensive initially, they offer better value in the long run. Why not be really green and use a solar charger too?
