We recently worked with our colleagues across departments to help to organise the ‘swishing’ element of the Family Finance Job Fair.
Residents were asked to bring 5 items of work clothing that were in a good condition but that they no longer wanted or needed to swap with others.
Employees at Lambeth Council and Lambeth College were also encouraged to donate good quality clothing and these items were made available at the Swish.
We ended up with quite a haul!
- 66 shirts
- 13 jackets
- 26 jumpers
- 3 pairs of shoes
- 3 suits
- 15 pairs of jeans
- 5 dresses
This totalled 173kg of clothing – all made available to job seekers looking to attend interviews or start work.
Swishing is a brilliant way to increase the lifespan of clothing. We all have items that for various reasons, we no longer wear – why not pass them on? It’s really easy to organise small swishing events with your friends. Not only is it a fun way to spend an evening but you get to refresh your wardrobe too!
