We have recently teamed up with a new bicycle reuse partner, Squeaky Chains CIC, a social enterprise and not for profit bicycle recycling project based in SE1. They collect donated bikes from Lambeth’s Reuse and Recycling Centre and refurbish them in their workshop in Rushworth Street.

As well as providing refurbished bikes at affordable prices, they offer a repair service, basic bicycle maintenance courses for the general public and provide clients at St.Mungo’s with ‘Build a bike’ courses. The innovative course started in 2009 and trained 100 people in the first year alone. It provides students with the skills to transform an abandoned bicycle into fully functioning machine in just four weeks. Students can then use the bicycles they have built as a healthy way of transport and also have something to show for their achievement.

You can find out more about Squeaky Chains on their website. If you would like to donate a bike, you can do so by dropping it at Lambeth Reuse and Recycling Centre or to their workshop in SE1.

To celebrate the new partnership, Squeaky Chains are very kindly offering Lambeth residents 10% off any refurbished bike. They have bikes for everyone, including children, so if you are after a new set of wheels be sure to pay them visit!
